Talking Health With Seniors - 2012

Good health information communication is often difficult, and it's no easier when seniors are involved. Seniors have lower levels of health literacy than the rest of the population.

We will present and distribute this video to health professionals, health organizations and seniors groups. The goals of this video project are:
  1. to provide a training tool for medical professionals to help them better understand the health needs of seniors.
  2. to provide increased empowerment for seniors to manage their own health.

This project was funded with money raised from our PGI Golf Tournament for Literacy.

Ron Irving wrote the script and played a role, along with fellow actors Nancy Price, Will McFadden, Cathy Grant and Paul Whelan. Viola Evans-Murley appeared in her true-life role of a diabetes consultant. Dr. Lana-Beth Barkhouse acted as host of the video.
