Due to an unexpected loss of funding, the Imagination Library in PEI has ended effective immediately.

We are very saddened by this change and also grateful for the strong support this program has received from our community over the past five years.

We remain committed to supporting literacy for children and families across PEI and will share any future updates as they become available.

Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library

The Imagination Library is a free book gifting program devoted to inspiring a love of reading in young children. There are over 2 million books gifted to children around the world each year. We administer the Imagination Library program in PEI. Each month, thousands of children in PEI receive a high quality, age-appropriate book in the mail until their fifth birthday. This program is offered free of charge.

The Imagination Library program has been a great success in PEI. Program evaluations show the positive impact this program is having on early literacy across the province. More than 80% of parents have reported that they are more aware of the importance of early literacy and are reading more as a family.
